I had the great pleasure of hearing Peggy Seeger play a ‘gig’ in Dublin, for a local Farmers and Fish Market, on Hallow e’en night.  She said she’d been up since 5.30am that morning and driven up through Ireland to the capital. She sang “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” written for her by Ewan Mc Coll. She also showed her activist spirit is still alive and well with songs about Iraq soldiers, pro-choice and mother earth.

She has amazing energy for a seventy-four year old and is clearly from the vanguard of the folk scene that Bob Dylan entered all those years ago.

I dreamed I saw St. Nicholas

I just saw Pat Garret & Billy the Kid for the first time last night. The best thing about it was Bob Dylan-he wrote the music (Knockin On Heaven’s Door) and skulked around every scene like a true bandit. Nice.  Kris Kristofferson looked like a rock star, but was Billy the Kid a rock star???

Here’s something interesting that David Crosby said about Bob and Joan’s relationship:

“David Crosby said he wasn’t sure of Baez’s feelings for Dylan (she said, of course, she was crazy about him – “speaking strictly for me, we both could have died then and there”), but he knew Dylan was crazy about her – worth contemplating given the emotionally constricted public pose Dylan has affected throughout his life.”

Bob Dylan is also donating all of his future U.S. royalties from this album to Feeding America in perpetuity.
